Basis.point helping young people achieve their goals through education

Basis.point is a charity founded in 2014 in Ireland with the ambition to provide youth from disadvantaged communities in Ireland with equitable access to education. Basis.point is committed through their projects, to enhance the chances of success in kids and elevate their career goals and aspirations.

Access to adequate education is not only directly linked to career opportunities, but also an improvement in health, nutrition and overall wellbeing as well.

Inclusion, diversity and equity are some of their key values which are reflected in all their support programs. Through the impact of this charity, 6.1 million euros have been invested in education helping about 59,000 young Irish people reach their educational potential.

Some of their projects:

The Incredible Years® programme

Delivered by Archways, this program is a well-established prevention and early intervention initiative designed for children ages 4-8 who face emotional, social and behavioral challenges. It provides training for teachers across Ireland to support children in the classroom and prepares facilitators to work closely with parents.

NFTE (Network For Teaching Entrepreneurship Programme)

Delivered by Foróige, the leading youth organization in Ireland working with young people and their families. The program engages young people between 12 and 18 in youth centers and schools giving the opportunity to study the most important aspect for starting a successful business. Young people also have the opportunity to visit local and national companies, engage relationships with entrepreneurs, business executives and community leaders, and prepare and present a business plan with a chance to win the National Foróige Youth Entrepreneurship Awards.

Introduction to STEM Programme

Delivered by Teen-Turn, this program offers an opportunity for girls from underrepresented communities to experience STEM and gain the qualifications they need in order to pursue careers in this field. The program is developed through activities offered free of charge after school hours and during two weeks in the summer where girls get the chance of working in STEM companies.
